Based on true events, the film is set in 1988, when the martial law ended in Taiwan. A-han and Birdy meet in the school band, led by Canadean priest Oliver. The attraction between the two boys is immediate —but they fear the judgments of the homofobic society they live in. To avoid conflicts, Birdy pretends to fall in love with a girl, while A-han decides to confess to Father Oliver, who oppresses him. The film shows the fight for true love and the emblematic changes in Taiwan, the first Asian country to legalize gay marriage.
