Born in Mexico City in 1979. He earned a degree in film direction from the New York Film Academy and began making films with his production company, Lucía Films. His directorial credits include Daniel and Ana (2009, 33rd Mostra), After Lucia (2012), winner of the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes Film Festival, A Los Ojos (2015), Chronic (2015, 39th Mostra), awarded best screenplay in Cannes, April’s Daughter (2017, 41st Mostra), winner of the Special Jury Prize of the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes Film Festival, and New Order (2020, 44th Mostra), Silver Lion winner at Venice Film Festival.
