Born in Divinópolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 1949. His first work as a director was the documentary Em Nome da Razão (1980, 4th Mostra). Mostra also screened Menino Maluquinho (1994, 31st Mostra), Love and Co. (1997, 22nd Mostra) and The Secret Diamonds (2014, 38th Mostra).
