Esmir Filho

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, he graduated in cinema at FAAP. A director and screenwriter, his first feature film, "The Famous and the Dead" (2009), presented at the 33rd Mostra, was screened at international film festivals such as the Berlin Film Festival and the Locarno Film Festival. His short film "Something like That", co-directed with Mariana Bastos, won the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival`s Critics` Week in 2006 and was later adapted into a feature film of the same name by the duo in 2017. The short film "Saliva" (2007) was also presented in Cannes. Esmir Filho also created television shows, such as "Tudo o que É Sólido Pode Derreter" (2009), and launched the series "Kissing Games" (2020), for Netflix.
