Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 1962 and, since the 1980s, he lives in France. Rahimi is a filmmaker and writer. He made his debut in feature film direction with "Earth and Ashes" (2004), awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie is an adaptation of his homonymous novel, released in 2000. In 2012, he directed the film "The Patience Stone" (2012), also an adaptation of one of his books.
