Three Blood Brothers (2005)
Sobre o filme
Betinho, Henfil, and Chico Mário. Three brothers: Herbert José de Souza (Betinho), Henrique de Souza Filho (Henfil), and Francisco Mário de Souza (Chico Mário). Three Brazilians whose lives merge with modern Brazil’ political, social, and cultural history. Their lives were marked by ceaseless struggle, for all three - against hemophilia, against the dictatorship, against hunger - the struggle for amnesty, against Aids, in support of Brazilian music, for the Diretas Já free elections movement, for life. Solidarity was the weapon used by these three brothers in their endeavor to render Brazil a more just and solidary country. They were part, each in his own way, of the transformations in evidence in the country: Betinho, by means of social campaigns; Henfil, with his unsettling humor; and Chico Mário, with the beauty of his music. The documentary shows the family environment in which the brothers grew up and the trajectory of each. Exile for Betinho and the "return of Henfil’ brother", in 1979. Henfil and his famous characters - Graúna, Baixinho, and Bode Orelana, among others. Chico Mário’ fight for independent music and autonomous expression for artists. Those interviewed for the film include Aldir Blanc, Ivan Lins, João Bosco, Joyce, Millôr Fernandes, Tárik de Souza, Wagner Tiso, and Ziraldo.
