Tosca (2001)
Sobre o filme
A version of Puccini’ famous opera filmed in three ways. In the first, in color, in period costume, and on stage with an orchestra live. In the second, in black-and-white, the singers record the music in a studio. In the third, a video shows the sites in Italy where the opera is set. The three main actors are professional opera singers: Ruggero Raimondi, as the villain Scarpia; Roberto Alagna, as Mario Cavaradossi; and Angela Gheorghiu, as Floria Tosca. The story tells the tragic story involving artist Mario and his possessive girlfriend, Tosca, wildly jealous of the woman posing for her lover in a portrait. Mistaken for a fugitive, Mario is wanted by the police. Baron Scarpia lies to Tosca saying that he has absconded with his model, to persuade her to aid him in capturing the painter.
