The Manchu invasion in China, in 1660, has brought the Ming dynasty to an end and established the Ching dynasty, that proceed to ban learning and the practice of martial arts, in the belief that this will make it easier to control the country. An official from the Ming dynasty believes he can make a fortune implanting a new law. Greedy, cruel, and amoral, he decides to invade a city. A retired executioner, also of the former dynasty, decides he will face up to him and enlists the aid of a master swordsman leading a group of apprentices that become known as “the seven swords”.
