A cinematographic version of the TV Firefly series, the production tells the story of Captain Malcolm Reynolds, the hardened veteran of a galactic civil war, now living off petty crime and transporting passengers in his spaceship Serenity. He is the leader of a small but loyal crew. Malcolm accepts two new passengers, a young doctor and his sister. It is not long before he discovers that they are hiding several secrets. The two of them are running away from a coalition that controls all of the universe and that would do anything to have the girl back. The crew, used to traveling unobtrusively through the obscure corners of the universe, discover they are the object of a hunt by the Universal Alliance military forces and the cannibal fury of Reavers, savages erring on the frontiers of the known universe.
