Sweet and Lowdown (1999)
Sobre o filme
In the thirties, the U.S. moves to the sound of jazz. Guitarrist Emmet Ray spends his time at home with very extravagant attitudes: he loves to see the trains go by, to shoot at the rats, and to get stoned. He believes he is the best guitar player in the world, but his belief is short-lived for onto the scene comes gipsy guitar player Django Rejnhardt. Even though he lives in another world, Ray can not escape this reality. And for this reason, he loses control. Between one presentation and another, he is involved with a deaf girl, the only one who can understand his anxiety and insecurity. As in Zelig, Woody Allen returns to the fake documentary and creates an amusing tribute to the world of jazz - one of his passions in life. "This is a period film that shows the adventures of a wild excentric genius of the guitar at the end of the thirties. We will follow along with him in a series of comic and tragic adventures with musicians, gangsters, and lovers who are protagonists of a farse he has created himself", says Woody Allen.
