Pixo (2009)
Sobre o filme
The film discusses the cultural impact of “pichação”, a Brazilian form of graffiti, on the streets of São Paulo and its international influence as one of the main cornerstones of Street Art. The film took part in the exhibition Né dans la Rue (Born in the Street), put together by the Fondation Cartier pour l‚ÄôArt Contemporain in Paris. The documentary shows the lives of the “pichadores” (pitchers), accompanying some of their actions, their confrontations with police, and shows the other side of the coin concerning interventions that have already been hugely exploited by the media. The film offers no answers but does provide arguments for the on-going debate: is “pichação” art, or is it crime?
