A film noir following the tradition of French gangster films. Characters from the underworld repent from their choice and seek something that will be more significant in their lives. This is a love story between Paula, a Parisian who is a call-girl in Amsterdam, and Brazilian hired killer, Michel. He is emotionally shaken when a Bolivian boy, age 6, suddenly appears in their lives. The boy is to change their fate and motivate them to go in search of their dreams and start life together once more. But Paula?s hands are tied for she is in debt with Rudi, a powerful narcotraffic lord. Michel has commitments with his mentor, Giuseppe. Both will have to pay a high price for freedom. The film includes Brazilian actor Murilo Benício as a protagonist and Ana Lucia Torre as supporting actress (a maid). The soundtrack for Paid is by talented cellist Jaques Morelenbaum, a composer who wrote the music for two Brazilian films nominated for the Oscar, O Quatrilho and Central Station.
