Father and Master (1977)
Sobre o filme
Based on a real story, the film shows the path taken by Gavino, a boy forced by his father to give up his studies and, instead, labor in the fields, herding sheep. Every attempt on his part to change his life is frustrated by the ignorance and by the violence of his father. In time, Gavino realizes that his only way out is to arm himself with the weapon his father does not possess: learning. A portrait of the most primitive form of oppression: that of patriarch, lord over life and of death in the bosom of the family. The Taviani brothers expose this ancestral conflict with capitalist modernity in full spate. Winner of the Golden Palm at the 1977 Cannes Film Festival.
