Sobre o filme
Developed as from a fragment from a book “Operai, Contadini”, by writer Elio Vittorini, Operai, Contadini highlights the drama of a community of laborers and peasants, who after the end of World War II return to Italy to face hunger, poverty, fear, and the pain of conflict. Men and women of all ages midst ruins, invent new forms of relating to work, in day-to-day life, in the way in which they deal with sex, and the contrasts between generations. In fact, all of a new mode of thought on how to live together with other people, taking into account political ideas, divers geographical origins, among other difficulties. This is the second adaptation the directors have made with work by an Italian author. Gente da Sicília (1999) is based on the book “Sicília” and was shown at the 25th Mostra.
