1958 - the Algerian war. Bruno Forestier is a deserter who has sought refuge in Geneva where he falls in love with Véronica Dreyer. He is encharged by a party from the extreme left, with the mission of doing away with a political journalist on the Swiss radio. The mission fails, and Bruno is arrested and tortured by the FLN. He manages to get away and goes back to Véronica who works for the FLN. Some time later, she is arrested and tortured to her death by French extremists.
