The French choreographer Maurice Béjart (1927 –2007) was one of the great names of dance in the 20th century. His death was an irreparable loss for the art world, but above all it was a cataclysm for his own company. After being under the direction of Béjart for 50 years, The Béjart Ballet Lausanne company now faces an uncertain future even with the advantage of the exclusive repertoire of the maestro. A number of hurdles await them. Lausanne City Hall has prolonged its contract only until 2010. With little time, dancer Gil Roman, the new director chosen by Béjart himself, must face the challenge of living up to the legacy he has inherited. The creation of a new show acts as the leitmotif of this film. The sacrifices, dreams and illusions of all the dancers are at stake.
