The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
Sobre o filme
Many books have been written and many a story told about the famous American highwayman. To those he stole from and struck with terror, and from the families of those he confessed to having assassinated, Jesse James could only have been a criminal. But articles from sensationalistic newspapers and popular novels narrated his gang’s prowess in the 1870s. Jesse became the object of adoration and admiration. He was a type of Robin Hood, for his targets were banks and railroad owners who took advantage of the poverty-stricken farmers. One of his greatest admirers was Robert Ford, a young man who devoted his life to his dream of one day walking beside his idol. He could never imagine that history was to define him as a dirty coward who shot Jesse from behind. How did they become friends? What happened between them in the days and hours prior to the shot that was to put an end to the life of a man and was to define and resume the life of the other? Brad Pitt, in the role of Jesse James, was awarded the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 2007 Venice Festival.
