No, or the Vain Glory of Command (1990)
Sobre o filme
During the last Portuguese colonial war, a sublieutenant reminisces over an epic tale from his country, Portugal. His audience consists of battle-mates on patrol in the jungles of Africa. The story tells of some defeats and the sublieutenant concludes his story on April 25, 1974, the day of the Revolution. One of the most acute reflections on Portuguese identity at the precise moment of the decline of Portugal as a colonial power, leaving the Salazar dictatorship behind and entering into a democratic transition. Special Mention of the Jury at the Cannes Festival. Shown at the 14th and 15th Mostra.
