500 Almas (2005)
Sobre o filme
The mock trial of a guató leader assassinated during the reoccupation of the Ínsua Island in the Mato Grosso pantanal wetlands, and whose assassins were never punished, is used to present the culture of these indigenous people. Considered extinct in the sixties, the guatós were rediscovered by a missionary, Ada Gambarotto, in the seventies. The documentary takes us, also, to Germany, to research the collection organized by ethnologist Max Schmidt, who conducted the first studies of the guató language, later taken up once more by Brazilian linguist Adair Palácio.
