Dead of Night (1945)

 Sobre o filme
A film that was to make Cavalcanti world famous. Confined in a chalet, a group of persons share stories about coincidences, absurdities, and misfortune. H. G. Wells wrote most of these. Cavalcanti directed two episodes from this film. The Christmas Story tells the story of a little girl who meets the ghost of a child murdered by her sister, during a Christmas party. In The Ventriloquist’s Dummy, a marionette possesses her master, a ventriloquist, who goes out of his mind. The other episodes are The Linking Story and The Hearse Driver, directed by Basil Dearden, The Haunted Mirror, directed by Robert Hamer, and The Golfing Story, directed by Charles Crichton.
