Ngando and Ndomé are in love. Ngando asks for Ndomé’s hand in marriage, but her family reminds him that he has to pay the dowry. As he is an orphan, he asks his uncle to help him meet this traditional obligation. Yet the uncle, who has no children despite having three wives, decides to marry the young woman, unaware that she is expecting Ngando’s child. The feature won the Grand Prix Georges Sadoul in 1975 and the First Prize at the Organisation Catholique Internationale du Cinéma in Ouagadougou (Africa) in 1976.
