Memories for Daily Use (2007)
Sobre o filme
Ivanilda has been searching for evidence that her husband, missing since 1975, was arrested by the Brazilian government. Romildo has been searching for the body of his brother Ramirez missing since 1973, in a cemetery in the suburbs of Rio. Mothers weep for their children recently assassinated by the police in the favela shanty towns. All of them belong to the Torture – Never Again Group in Rio de Janeiro. Torture still affects those families who did not have a chance to bury their loved ones. They interact between traumatic memory and forgetting and bring to the surface the memory of recent facts. The group wishes to build a political memory, thus revealing selectivity in official history. They think the past so that they may free the future of the ghosts that still haunt them in the present.
