Jan Dara (2001)
Sobre o filme
In Bangkok in the thirties, Jan has a father who can not forgive him for the death of his mother, who died from complications in delivery. Jan is in his teens and resents his father?s sexual behavior, in the company of countless women. The boy has also to put up with his father?s exacting demands, to make amends for what he did in the past (his mother’s death), or by what he will have to do in the future (to further his father’s plans). The tension between both is aggravated after one of the father’s mistresses introduces Jan to sex. Soon after, the boy is to get his own sister pregnant and be turned out of the house. Curiously enough, he eventually develops the same libidinous behavior as his father. With a difference: whereas the father’s sexual incursions were a kind of vengeance against his son, Jan regards sex as amusement, pure and simple. Based on the book “Rueang Khong Jan Dara”, a motive for controversy in his home country because of the heavy sexual content of the book.
