Heremakono (2002)
Sobre o filme
In Nouadhibou, a fishing village on the Mauritanian coast, Abdallah, a seventeen-years-old Malian, visits his mother before embarking for Europe. In this place of exile and tenuous hopes, the young man, who does not speak the language, tries to understand the universe in which he finds himself: Nana, a sensual young woman, Makan, who dreams of Europe, Maata, a former fisherman turned electrician, and his disciple Khatra, who helps him out of his isolation by teaching him the local dialect. Paths cross and separate over the days, with all eyes on the horizon waiting for that hypothetical happiness. The film was selected for the 26th Mostra and won the International Critic’s Award for the Un Certain Regard section at 2002 Cannes Film Festival, and also the Best Production Design Award at the 2003 Fespaco.
