Inspired from a short novel of Keiichi Ito (in WW2, a sergeant major summoned a call girl for soldiers they faced death), Kihachi Okamoto made his first middle budget war movie(produced by Toho and Mifune production). 1945, some strange people arrived a town occupied by Japanese Army at North Chinese front, they were sergeant major Kosugi, Korean call girl (called “military comfort woman”) O-Haru, and members of junior military band. Kosugi against lieutenant Sakuma around execute of an officer, he was only survivor of Fort Graveyard that captured by Chinese communist Army.
