Children Kosovo 2000 (2000)
Sobre o filme
It is spring in Kosovo. The winter is over, but only in the meteorological sense of the word. In the fields and in the cities, the cold still pervades hearts now in ruin and burns through the souls of the inhabitants of the region. The sunshine only casts light on the marks left by a war of bloodshed that has lacerated this part of what was formerly Yugoslavia. Violeta, Besarta, Edmond, Valdrin, Miljana, and Jelena were born there - Albanian and Serbian children who tell their stories here, in black and white throughout, except for colored images they themselves filmed in Super 8. When he named the film Children, in Albanian and Serbian, Hungarian director Ferenc Moldoványi drew attention to a word invariably despised in times of war. “This is tribal war, full of racial hate, in a civilized high-tech world such as Europe at the turn of the millenium: a shameful and incomprehensible paradox”, says the director.
