Chamamé Music, People, Poetry (2006)
Sobre o filme
Four Argentinean musicians, Chango Spasiuk, Gicela Méndez Ribeiro, Monchito Merlo and Alberto Bofill, introduce Chamamé, a popular style of music with ancient and mysterious roots. It came to life over two centuries ago when European immigrants and Creoles began settling in the northeastern provinces of Argentina. The sounds of European Polkas began to blend with African-inspired rhythms and the traditional songs of the Guaraní, the native people of this region. Today, the accordion and the guitar are the primary instruments of Chamamé, but the violin, bass and an assortment of percussion instruments are also frequently heard as well. The four musicians open up their lives and invite the audience to share their passions, sorrows and joys.
