Late Marriage (2001)
Sobre o filme
Zaza does not have much time: he is about to become 32 and his family is exerting pressure so that he will get married as soon as possible. As tradition demands, it is his obligation to choose a young virgin who will be beautiful, of good family and, preferably, rich. Yasha and Lily, Zaza’ parents truly believe that their son is perfection incarnate: intelligent, charismatic, and handsome. They proceed to plan for a succession of encounters with prospective wives, but Zaza will never decide. While he has his family on, he continues to uphold the stifling habits of his Georgian heritage, only invariably finding a way to escape from avid candidates. What Yasha and Lily do not know is that their son is already in love: Judith, his chosen one, is a sensual woman, strong and mysterious, although she is not exactly what Zaza’ zealous family have in mind for him, in that she is divorced and the mother of a six-year-old little girl. Zaza is at the stage where he will have to face up to an unexpected and cruel moment in his life, obliged to choose between respect for the strict codes imposed by family tradition and the great love of his life.
