Letter to Ahmat (2001)

 Sobre o filme
A documentary in the form of a letter addressed to Ahmat Yacoub, vice-president of the Coordination for Armed Movements and Political Opposition Parties of Chad (Cmap), a country in the north of Africa devastated by civil war. In a crossing over the Sahara desert, the film maker writes and directs this letter-on-film and discusses the African question, showing the reasons for the outbreak of yet another war in Chad. A poverty-stricken country of 7 million, 60% of which living in the rural areas, Chad is known for its turbulent history marked deeply by ethnic and religious fighting. In 1900, Chad was colonized by France and became independent only in 1960. In 1975, a dictatorship was established in the region and was ousted by the opposition only in 1994. Conflict has now come, once more, to the surface.
