Benilde or the Virgin Mother (1975)
Sobre o filme
In Alentejo, in an enormous, lonely house, Benilde, daughter of the owners, is pregnant. She, however, denies she has had any intercourse with a man and insists that, if she is in fact pregnant, this is through the will of an angel of God, a mysterious creature stalking the house, howling most terribly, never seen. Benilde?s unique case creates a stir in the heart of the family, and shakes up the norms of austere tradition that is intractable when it comes to non-observance. Adapted from the novel by the same name by writer José Régio.
