Buddha`s Lost Children (2006)

Sobre o filme

In the borderlands of Thailand’ Golden Triangle, a rugged region known for its drug smuggling and impoverished hill tribes, one man devotes himself to the welfare of the region’ children. A former Thai boxer turned Buddhist monk, he travels widely on horseback, fearlessly dispensing prayers, health care and education. With his Golden Horse Temple, he’ built an orphanage, school and clinic : a haven for the children of the region, who see him as a shaman, a father figure and a coach. This intimate, emotionally charged portrait charts how the monk’ unique brand of tough love unlocks the boys‚Äô potentials. This is a story of self-discovery and new awakenings, an inspirational journey into a hidden world. Among the awards won by the film is the Grand Jury Award for International Documentary at the AFI FEST, the Crystal Film prize at the Netherlands Film Festival, the City of Rome prize at the Asiaticafilmediale, and the Silver Dove at DOK Leipzig.
