Antofagasta, El Hollywood de Sudamerica (2002)
Sobre o filme
During the silver cycle in Chile, in the twenties, three men have a dream: to make the city of Antofagasta into “Hollywood da América do Sul”. Of the nine Chilean films released in 1927, six were “Antofagasta” productions. Director Adriana Zuanic made a documentary on this short but effervescent cinematographic cycle at the start of the 20th century, bringing to light living history, centered on statements filmed on the sites of origin, recreating the times, documents, photographs and images from the past during the era of the silent films. Contemporary Antofagasta emerges on screen as the film unfolds - a city and a people in search of their lost cultural patrimony, a fundamental premise for a renewed encounter with its history.
