Water and Salt (2001)
Sobre o filme
Ana lives with her husband and daughter in a small town on the edge of the sea. One day, her husband informs her he will have to be away for some days. She is not particularly upset by the news. Ana could do with a few days off to finish a job she has been postponing. The peace and quiet she expects, however, are not to be. One day, out walking on the beach, she saves a man, a foreigner, from drowning. She also meets a young couple, Alexandre and Emilia, and meets up once more with her old friend Vera who pays her a visit. “With this film, I rediscovered the freedom lost that I had in the first film I directed. I put my trust in my instinct and in my experience”, says the director. Water and Salt includes the special participation of Chico Buarque and Maria de Medeiros.
