The documentary marks the 50th anniversary of the death of journalist Vladimir Herzog, who was murdered inside the DOI-CODI facilities, and follows the story of his family and his life — up until his death on October 25, 1975. His assassination changed the course of the struggle for the country’s re- democratization in the 1970s. Testimonies from his sons Ivo and André Herzog, as well as from colleagues and former political prisoners — journalists Paulo Markum, Dilea Frate, Sergio Gomes, and Anthony de Cristo, along with physician Ubiratan de Paula Santos, a former student leader — reconstruct Vlado’s trajectory. The documentary also retraces the painful path taken by Clarice Herzog, his wife, in her quest to hold those responsible for her husband’s death accountable. Narrated by journalist Chico Pinheiro, the film recovers images spanning half a century of history and never-before-seen photos of Herzog’s trajectory through theater, cinema, television, and print journalism.
