The Promised Land (2000)
Sobre o filme
“Man found dead in apartment after one month.” This type of news that is so common in the newspapers was a source of inspiration to director John Appel in making The Promised Land, inspired on the sixth commandment: “Thou shalt not kill”. Instead of condemning someone or teaching a lesson in morals, in his documentary, Appel proposes a psychological reading of the subject, where he questions how it can be that a person who for all of his life had friends and family, can die forgotten in his apartment, without being missed by anyone. This film is part of The Ten Commandments, produced by Paul de Bont, and that includes medium-length films by the greatest directors of documentaries in Netherlands.
